Day 3
Today was another blessed day. We had wonderful interaction with the campers last night.
Some leaders amongst the group expressed a bit of discouragement because of the student's seeming lack of spiritual interest.
However, this morning a few of the counselors were able to share that the campers which seemed to have no interest in spiritual things asked the best questions. Some of them consisted of, "How do you know Heaven and Hell are real?", "Where did they come from?", "How can you be 100 percent sure you're a Christian?".
These questions warmed the hearts of those leading them.
Brett was able to remind the group that the goal doesn't have to be having an hour to an hour and a half conversation every night with every camper in order to consider ourselves faithful.
We are called to love them as a whole person. And for them to know we are interested in them is the aim.
Our lady leaders have done well in loving their campers, they have ran into some road blocks to good conversation and have reached out to one another when need prayer and encouragement.
We went to the sand bar today. The campers love to swim and throw mud at one another. The sand bar is a tiny, "island" which we boat to and play volleyball and have some water related fun.
We also had a question and answer time with the campers tonight. Pray for the word of God which they are exposed to this week would take root.
Brett and Victor as well as a couple other men have been preaching this week. The theme for the week has been discipleship from the book of Luke. The first message was on what discipleship is and how eager God is to seek and find sinners.
The second message was on how only God is able to calm the storms in nature and life, the biggest one being our sin.
We spoke today about how Jesus used small children to teach a big lesson on humility and when we come to God humbly wanting to repent of our sin, God hears and exalts us.
